Dangerous mind

Reflection about Dangerous mind movie




The curriculum depicted in the movie: Dangerous mind is vertical because isn't flexible, only it is focused in the theory, and the topics isn´t transversalized with others subjects, so the students don't have a significative learning, for that is important the teaching by Lovanne , it is based in the interest for her students, with contains focused in the social reality of the students, so the students are engaged in worthwhile relevant experiences and they construct them own knowledge.

In my opinion the education system in Dangerous minds's movie is distanced of the student´s reality because the activities and contains  don't hace coherence with them life, for that is very dificult to secure a success in the learning, the arms of education, I related it with resources, for me, in Dangerous minds there are physical resources as the classroom, material resources as a board, chairs, etc., human resources as teachers, administrators and students, but the acctitudes towards education in the frst part of movie are very desinterested, and during the develop of the movie I could see more responsability by the students. But, this responsability showed by the students was obtained by Miss Johnson, this teacher represents in the movie a person with compromise, with love for her work, for her students, a person with vocation, for me she is a example to follow, because the most important qualities as a teacher foster are the curiosity for the life (problems, experiences, questions and answers...) of the students, the interest showed to the student, the responsability and love with teaching tasks.

Finally, I think that the teacher of ths movie can be imitaded because she took a challenge and with challenges the teaching has more impact.

My objectives and motivations

Colombia is the country with more diverse cultures in the world.  The people have different traditions and habits in each region: Caribbean, Amazonia, Andina, Pacific and Orinoco.
I am from Andina region, specifically from Antioquia department, I live in Cañasordas municipality with my family, I work in the “Institución Educativa Rural Juntas de Urmita” four  years ago.  Also, I study Bachelor  English Education in English  in “Fundación Universitaria Luis Amigó” in Medellín city. I made decision to learn English because I worked in Mariscal Robledo hotel in Santa Fe de Antioquia. Every day tourists got back from different parts of the world, they spoken English and others language and I could not understand them so the communication had not success. I felt the need to learn English.  Now I work in a place away from the city, where there are few opportunities of development, education and business, so this reality help me to decide become an English teacher  because I think that is a possibility  to show and to invite to the world to know about our territory and our culture and the teaching English is a form to transform the ideas and beliefs about production, social life, cultural interactions and new learnings, and I want to be part of that transformation as an English teacher.
I want to use the opportunity of Fulbright because it will help me to know more about English, the communicative competence for the development of the society and meet my goals in English Education in my country: strengthening communicative skills and promote the acquisition of another language.
In conclusion is very important to learn about world in general and all opportunities that offers through institutions as Fulbright for transform our life and the life of other people to the progress of the a community.

 This experience is about the project: "Guía Virtual Regreso al paraíso del sendero ecológico San Juñián" winner of the educa digital nacional event in Bogotá, which a group teacher has  been developing during the year 2014 in Cañasgordas town.
